Cartoon by L.E. Burgess for No More Page 3
I adore women. Absolutely put-them-on-a-pedestal-and-make-a-bumbling-fool-of-myself-because-I’m-too-scared-to-talk-to-them-properly-adore them. I try and convey that adoration in each and every one of my pieces, whether it’s a sketchy scribbling, or a full-blown bells-and-whistles pinup.
Hey, L.E. Burgess?
That worshipful adoration crap? Is just another form of misogyny. The pedestal is just as miserable as the gutter. Whether you’re worshipping or despising, you’re not acknowledging what we are. Human. Like you.
If you really liked women, you wouldn’t buy The Sun, but you wouldn’t draw “pinups”, either. If women were human to you, you would not need to be told that there is no acceptable way to turn human beings into decorative buckets for your incontinence. Not in the Sun, not in a blue-chip art gallery, not anywhere. Not even if it’s a really really cute pencil drawing that you worked really hard on. Not even if you drew a cartoon supporting a feminist cause and you now think you have the official seal of feminist approval that makes it OK to sneak in misogyny.
I know you’ve been steeped in that school of thought that asserts that any resistance to cultural invasion and/or exploitation of female bodies is OMGCENSORSHIP and will land us all in the gulag, because we’ve had this philosophy hammered into our brains since birth. Guess what? It was a lie. Your dude-art is not more important than our right to not be reduced to stereotypes, symbols, or wank fodder.
If you really liked women, you wouldn’t objectify them. At all.

But he’s so sensitive! You should give him a cookie.
I am fresh out of cookies. Perhaps he would enjoy a lovely bash in the noggin from a virtual spring-loaded boxing glove instead. Or maybe I would enjoy it. Whatever.
That’s pretty funny. Maybe he should draw THAT. LOL!
By the way, while stereotypes do exist(comedy wouldnt exist if not so) that is of the minority of any group. The dumb and self absorbed ones.
Archetypes are broader, but life is messy and both much more complicated, and simple than we can comprehend. So not drawing up strict rules is always best, life is living and growing, rules are for the mediocre and fearful of mind, body and soul.
Ah, the childlike self-absorption and vague platitudes that privilege brings.
I’m leaving this up just for laughs. With a reminder that denying the oppressive nature of the system we live under is a form of assholery which is not well tolerated on this blog.
TL;DR: STFU.
Are you sure this is not a bot? It sounds like a word salad to me.
The commenter is real and has a blog in which to natter inconclusively away. Which makes me wonder why he bothered stopping by mine.
“rules are for the mediocre and fearful of mind, body and soul”
So I guess anyone who’s ever accomplished anything is fearful and mediocre. Oh well.
Srsly. It’s like he speed-read the self-help section at the library.
