These are exactly the sort of buildings I am seeing in Ukrainian cities right now, so I found Massagrande’s work intriguing.

The Rayograph

Italian artist Matteo Massagrande (who, I’m sorry to say, does not appear to have an artist’s website) is a talented painter and engraver. His series of paintings featuring abandoned, decaying building interiors is particularly remarkable, not only because it shows his talent as a painter but also as it proves he has a keen eye for unexpected, hidden beauty. Art critics and writers on culture have lauded Massagrande for his intriguing and beautiful treatment of classical and modern buildings, each shown crumbling into piles of dust and dirt whilst illuminated by amber light. Peer inside the artist’s mind by taking a closer look at his work.
